ADVANTAGES OF A NEW HOME
There are many options in selecting a new home for your family. The first and most obvious is to choose a NEW HOME or an EXISTING HOME.
If your family selects a NEW HOME, there are many benefits:
- 1. You buy your dream, not someone else's.
- 2. You can select a home prior to construction, allowing you to chose the design.
- 3. You decide on that special dream building site.
- 4. You can make some modifications during construction.
- 5. You select colors of paint, wallpaper, appliances, flooring, etc.
- 6. Warranties usually are for a one year minimum, with extended warranties on most new homes for up to ten years.
- 7. New homes are safer than older homes.
- 8. New homes are healthier than older homes.
- 9. New homes are stronger than older homes.
- 10. New homes are more energy efficient than older homes.
- 11. New homes require less maintenance than older homes.
- 12. New homes are more convenient than older homes.
EXISTING HOMES have among their disadvantages:
- 1. Obsolescence.
- 2. Life expectancy is lower than new.
- 3. Appliances and utilities have a limited life.
- 4. Evidence indicates that operating costs differences between existing and new may be large enough to offset most of the price difference. Homes built in the 1960s cost 27% more to operate than homes built in the 1990s.
